Sam Caulder’s military service, post-service struggles, and memory are central to why Project Street Outreach exists.

Sam Caulder enlisted after high school and served for 23 years, including assignments in the United States, Korea, Germany, and four tours in Vietnam. His service included the 82nd Airborne Division and the 508th Infantry.
His recognized honors included the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam service honors, and Master Parachute Badge.
Denise Cromwell and her family did not fully understand the struggles Sam faced after retirement until it was too late to help him. His death in November 1988 became the foundation of a promise: it was not too late to help the next veteran.
PSO was formally founded in December 2012 to turn remembrance into practical action.
